Oxygen starvation medical negligence case study

Settlement: £2.1 million

There can be few instances of medical negligence more tragic than the injury of a child. In this case we were seeking damages on behalf of a baby who had been starved of oxygen during birth – as a result the child had been left brain damaged. This meant that, in addition to ongoing developmental problems, the child faced a continuing and ongoing need for increased care. In addition there was the future requirement of equipment and alterations to their home to consider.

We fought the responsible Health Trust to secure appropriate compensation for our clients. Eventually the case was settled just prior to the final hearing at the High Court with a settlement of £2.1 million being secured.

We are delighted that the damages that we helped to obtain have changed the life of the child and their parents, immeasurably and permanently, for the better.
